Flooding, Clogging and High Turbidity Levels being Experienced at Ihwa Intake

05/05/2020

We regret to inform our customers that our Water Treatment Plant at Kamakwa has been temporarily shut down due to flooding and clogging of Ihwa intake due to the heavy rainfall being experienced in the country and landslides which have occurred upstream Chania River causing high turbidity levels. The available water reserve is expected to be depleted in a few hours and we advise you to use the available supply sparingly especially during this COVID-19 pandemic. We also urge
you to utilize rain water through water harvesting to supplement supply. Our technical team is working round the clock to normalize the situation. We seek your indulgence as we endeavor to restore normal operations by Close of Business.

Wash your hands with soap and water, wear a mask and stay safe.
