In a bold show of environmental stewardship and community collaboration, the Nyeri Water and Sanitation Company (NYEWASCO) partnered with Standard Chartered Bank’s Mt. Kenya Region team for a successful tree planting exercise held at our Kiganjo Pumping Station.
This initiative saw the planting of 535 indigenous trees, a significant step toward safeguarding our natural ecosystems and securing sustainable water sources for generations to come.
The exercise was spearheaded by Beatrice Muigai, NYEWASCO’s Manager of Audit, Risk and Compliance, and it highlighted the powerful impact that strategic partnerships can have in addressing climate change and promoting environmental conservation. By bringing together the corporate and utility sectors, the event served as a shining example of how united efforts can create tangible, lasting change.
“At NYEWASCO, we understand that water sustainability goes hand-in-hand with a thriving environment,” said Ms. Muigai. “By planting trees, we are not only enriching biodiversity but also enhancing the resilience of our water sources.”
As climate concerns continue to grow, NYEWASCO remains steadfast in championing green initiatives. Tree planting is more than just a symbolic act—it is a practical, long-term investment in the health of our environment and our community.
Let’s keep planting hope, one tree at a time. 🌱
