NYEWASCO staff underwent training on the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system, facilitated by trainers from the National Treasury.

The training brought together staff from management, supply chain, finance, technical services, commercial services and other departments whose work contributes to procurement activities. It aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to carry out their roles through the e-GP system.

Over the two weeks, participants were introduced to the system’s modules through demonstrations and hands-on exercises. The sessions began with supplier and procuring entity registration before moving into the preparation of annual procurement and disposal plans. Staff also practised creating electronic requisitions and preparing tenders for goods, works, services and consultancy services.

Later sessions covered tender opening, evaluation and award, followed by contract management. These exercises gave participants an opportunity to follow the procurement process from planning through to contract administration and to discuss questions arising from their respective roles.

Procurement involves more than the supply chain team alone. Departments identify needs and raise requisitions, while other officers contribute to planning, approvals, evaluation and oversight. Bringing staff from these areas into the training helped build a shared understanding of how their work fits into the process.

The programme supports NYEWASCO’s efforts to strengthen staff capacity as it uses the e-GP system. By giving employees practical experience with its modules, the training helps them prepare to carry out procurement activities efficiently and accountably in support of the Company’s operations and service delivery.
