In a powerful demonstration of collaborative governance and operational transparency, NYEWASCO’s Senior Management Team, under the stewardship of Managing Director Eng. Peter G. Kahuthu, recently conducted a high-level technical tour of the organization’s most critical water infrastructure facilities. The management team was honored to host the Chairman of the Board of Directors, CPA Gathogo Mwangi, for this comprehensive field engagement, which served as a vital bridge between strategic oversight and the practical realities of water utility management.
The extensive itinerary was carefully curated to cover the diverse geographical and technical landscape of NYEWASCO’s supply network. The delegation visited a series of pivotal installations, including the Tetu Tank, Nyeri Hill Tank, Mathari Tank, HillFarm Tank, and the Mt. Kenya Tanks, alongside a critical stop at the Ihwa Intake. Each site visit allowed the Board Chairman and Senior Management to assess system performance in real-time, evaluate ongoing maintenance schedules, and identify opportunities for future capacity expansion. This hands-on assessment of the Ihwa Intake and the various strategic storage tanks across the region is essential in guaranteeing that our infrastructure remains robust enough to handle the increasing water demands of the communities we serve while maintaining the highest standards of safety and reliability.
Beyond technical evaluation, these engagements play a critical role in fostering accountability and continuous improvement within the organization. The collaboration between the Board of Directors and Management ensures a unified, strategic approach to service delivery, with financial and operational resources directed toward maintaining and modernizing infrastructure. This alignment strengthens NYEWASCO’s capacity to deliver efficient, sustainable water services amid growing demand and evolving environmental challenges. The infrastructure tour underscores that reliable water provision depends on both engineering excellence and strong leadership, as demonstrated by the synergy between the BOD Chair and the Senior Management Team. Through ongoing oversight, investment, and a commitment to transparency, NYEWASCO continues to uphold its mandate of providing safe, reliable, and sustainable water services to all stakeholders.
