NYEWASCO has signed its Performance Contract for the Financial Year 2026/2027, reaffirming its commitment to accountability, operational efficiency and continuous improvement in water and sanitation service delivery.
The signing took place during the County Government of Nyeri’s annual Performance Contract signing ceremony held at the Governor’s Office Grounds in Nyeri Town and presided over by H.E. Governor Mutahi Kahiga.
The Performance Contract was signed on behalf of NYEWASCO by Board Chair CPA Gathogo Mwangi and Managing Director Eng. Peter G. Kahuthu, with Director Esther N. Ndirangu signing as witness to the Board Chair.
The FY 2026/2027 Performance Contract sets out specific targets and commitments against which the Company’s performance will be monitored and evaluated during the financial year. It provides a framework for strengthening accountability, tracking progress and ensuring that institutional priorities translate into measurable results and improved service delivery.
This year’s Performance Contracting exercise was held under the theme, “Transforming Commitments into Results: Strengthening Accountability and Service Delivery.” The exercise places emphasis on translating institutional commitments into measurable outcomes while promoting prudent use of resources, transparency and accountability.
Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Kahiga underscored the importance of Performance Contracting as an accountability and management tool for translating development priorities, policies and plans into measurable results. He emphasized the need for County departments and entities to strengthen fiscal and expenditure discipline, prioritize completion of projects, enhance internal controls, embrace digital transformation and adopt data-driven approaches to management.
Performance Contracting is undertaken annually to establish clear goals, deliverables and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), while providing a basis for monitoring and evaluating institutional performance. The process also helps align organizational priorities with broader County and national development objectives.
NYEWASCO was among the Water Service Providers that signed Performance Contracts during the exercise, alongside Othaya Mukurwe-ini Water Services Company (OMWASCO), Naromoru Water and Sanitation Company (NARUWASCO), Tetu Aberdare Water and Sanitation Company (TEWASCO) and Mathira Water and Sanitation Company (MAWASCO).
Through the FY 2026/2027 Performance Contract, NYEWASCO remains committed to meeting its performance targets, strengthening efficiency and accountability, and delivering quality, reliable and sustainable water and sanitation services to its customers.
