“People Learn from people:”
This powerful statement shared during the 6th WOPs Congress in Germany (October 2025), continues to affirm the essence of Water Operators’ Partnerships (WOPs).
Indeed, organisations learn from organisations. Through the support of European Union and GWOPA/UN-Habitat , NYEWASCO represented by the Chief Manager, Finance & Corporate Services, CPA Rose Gitahi and Corporate Planning & Strategy Officer CCP Esther Ngugi and Ethiopian Urban Water Federation representated by the Director General, Mr. Muktar Ahmed, undertook a Diagnostic Enabling Visit (DEV Mission) to Hawassa City Water Supply & Sewerage Service Enterprise (HCWSSE) in Ethiopia from 4th to 8th February, 2026.
The five days of intensive on‑site engagement in HCWSSE was focused on co-developing the working areas and the implementation road map under the EU WOP Phase II programme.
The mission combined structured boardroom engagements with field visits to key utility assets. This integrated approach ensured that the peer understanding is grounded in practical realities and shared learning. WOPs continue to demonstrate that peer to peer collaboration remains one of the most effective pathways to strengthening utility performance and advancing sustainable water and sanitation services.
Grateful to the entire team for the trust, transparency and tireless effort. Now, the real work begins. Grateful to the entire team from HCWSSE led by Mr. Dawit Lelamo, the General Manager and Mr. Yoseph Yunkura, Director W/D/NRW.
